Weather Maker

Weather Maker

For one week in February we were in residence at Phoenix Square, Leicester, undertaking a series of experiments in an attempt to transform the local weather. Using the latest techniques, we have created clouds, released rain and experimented with climactic effects using hacked and home-built weather machines.

Through these initial experiments we aimed to create a coordinated DIY meteorological modification community capable of altering larger weather systems through collective efforts. Using the knowledge developed during this residency period, we will begin to produce an open online resource detailing schematics, code and datasets, allowing other individuals to build simple weather modification devices.

The exhibition marking the culmination of our residency consists of artifacts, remnants and documentation from these experiments as well as collated research on various interpretations of the effects of weather modification from conspiracy videos to research papers and governmental legislation. Through this collated data and we invite dialogue around how weather modification techniques might be used to create localised affects and the wider implications of such technologies.
